Phonics for Reading and Writing
Thursday 10th March 2022 1pm - 3pm
Join this workshop to develop your subject knowledge of the simple phonics code (phases 1-4) and gain new ideas to underpin your teaching of phonics for reading and writing.
For phonics teaching to be highly effective, practitioners must have secure subject knowledge and a clear understanding of phonological progression. This interactive online workshop will cover the relevant subject knowledge and progression for teaching the simple phonics code (phases 1-4), where children start to learn how sounds are represented and begin their journey in using this knowledge in their reading and writing. Included in the workshop will be games and activities to teach and practise concepts, as well as ideas for the application of phonics within discrete sessions and across the curriculum.
You will receive in advance all the handouts and resources for you to fully participate and, during the sessions, participation tools will be used such as practical activities, breakout groups for discussion and opportunities for questions throughout.
This session is suitable for EYFS/KS1 teachers, KS2 teachers delivering phonics, TAs supporting the teaching of phonics.
