Grammar in KS1 – a workshop for Teaching Assistants
Thursday 30th September 2021 10am - 12noon
Join this interactive, online workshop specifically designed to support TAs in their work with pupils.
In order to support pupils’ knowledge, understanding and application of grammar, it is essential that all adults have a good understanding themselves of the grammar concepts being taught, as well as the associated terminology used when talking about grammar in reading and writing. This interactive, online workshop will cover the relevant subject knowledge and terminology for the grammar concepts taught in KS1, as well as activities for pupils to develop their understanding and approaches to support them in applying grammar to their writing.
You will receive in advance all the handouts and resources for you to fully participate and, during the session, participation tools will be used such as practical activities, breakout groups for discussion and opportunities for questions throughout.
This session is suitable for Teaching Assistants working in KS1, as well as KS2 TAs who are supporting pupils to learn and apply KS1 grammar objectives.
- Become familiar with the subject knowledge and terminology associated with teaching KS1 grammar
- Explore practical games, activities and approaches for discrete grammar teaching
- Develop approaches to support pupils in the application of learned grammar to writing
