English Courses

.

Our English CPD refresher courses are delivered by experienced consultants Julie Sargent and Susie Spolander. Both Susie and Julie work extensively with primary schools across Oxfordshire and have an in-depth knowledge of current challenges faced by teachers, designing their courses accordingly.

The programme typically includes sessions covering English in Years 5&6 (x2 afternoons), Phonics, Guided Reading in KS1/KS2, Creating Writers in Years 3&4 (x2 afternoons), Greater Depth in Writing, Developing Vocabulary, Spelling/Grammar for TAs, Early Reading.

Moderation and Assessment

In addition to the half-day courses, we also run workshops across the academic year for KS1 and KS2 teachers focusing on Moderation and Assessment in Reading and Writing at the end of Year 2 and Year 6 respectively, giving teachers an often unique chance to work with colleagues from other schools, under the guidance of the consultant.  The first session focuses on understanding the expected standard, the second on greater depth in writing and the third on cross-school moderation. Teachers may attend all three or just one or two of the sessions.
