CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: DUE TO THE ONGOING UNCERTAINTY ABOUT WHEN SCHOOLS WILL REOPEN, WE HAVE TAKEN THE DECISION TO CANCEL ALL REMAINING COURSES FOR THIS ACADEMIC YEAR.
We will be contacting schools and delegates individually about refunds and/or credits for courses that have already been booked.
In the meantime, we will be putting together a programme of training to begin in September 2020. If you have any requests for training that you feel would be useful after such a long break, do email us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Everyone at Quest for Learning would like to thank all the schools who support us by booking training through the year and send all good wishes to your staff and pupils during these difficult times.
Do you feel that your teaching is a little stale? Are you worried that some of your subject knowledge isn't quite as up-to-date as it should be? Are you managing a team of teachers who feel undervalued or whose skills need to be refreshed?
As part of our commitment to raising education standards across the county, Quest for Learning runs a programme of high quality, affordable, continuous professional development courses for primary school teachers and teaching assistants. We employ experienced local maths and literacy consultants to deliver the CPD courses. The consultants work extensively with primary schools across Oxfordshire, ensuring course content is always relevant and up to date.
The programme includes half-day refresher courses on English topics such as phonics, developing greater depth in writing and guided reading. We also run three workshops each year for KS1 and KS2 teachers focusing on Moderation and Assessment at the end of Year 2 and Year 6 respectively, giving teachers an often unique chance to work with colleagues from other schools, under the guidance of the consultant.
Our Maths courses include sessions on Cuisenaire Rods and every year we offer our Promoting Mathematical Learning for Teaching Assistants, a nine-hour course run across three mornings, which has been developed to empower teaching assistants to feel confident in supporting pupils, across the primary age-range. The course is developed to tie in with schools’ own calculation policies and the mathematics National Curriculum (2014).
From time to time, we run courses to train teachers and TAs in how to use our own BookQuest programme and NumSkills/NumSkills Money resources.
